Gliding Australia membership categories update
Gliding Australia is reducing its membership categories from 15 to 8, making membership easier to understand and administration simpler for clubs and Gliding Australia.
For most members, very little will change. Existing membership types are being combined into clearer categories. The changes also include adjustments to some membership fees and a new approach to regional funding.
The eight membership categories
-
Flying Adult – full flying membership.
-
Flying Junior – for members under 26.
-
Flying Temporary – 90 Days – for temporary flying members.
-
Flying Introductory – 30 Days – for introductory flying.
-
Non Glider Flying – Active – for people involved in gliding activities who do not hold glider flying privileges, including tow pilots, and maintenance.
-
Non Glider Flying – Support – for social members, volunteers, family members and occasional passengers.
-
Life Member
-
Registered Operator / Registration Holder
Why are the changes being made?
By bringing the number of categories down from 15 to 8, Gliding Australia aims to help members understand where they fit and make membership administration easier for clubs.
The simpler structure will make membership more consistent and help Gliding Australia better recognise the people who support clubs, including volunteers, families and social members.
Clubs will let members know which category applies when their membership is renewed or updated. Members who are unsure how the changes affect them can contact the Gliding Australia team.
