Official Observers (OO)

The Official Observer is the FAI’s “field representative” that ensures

  • the flight is controlled in accordance with Sporting Code requirements, and
  • the required flight evidence is gathered and prepared in such a manner that will leave no doubt that the claimed achievement was met.

All badge and record flights need to have an official observer present to verify that the rules have been followed.

Becoming an OO:

To become an Official Observer (and to revalidate an OO qualification), the member first studies the Sporting Code, and then undertakes the Gliding Australia online exam.

The online Exam menu is in the MyGFA menu (accessed through GoMembership).  After successful completion of the OO exam, the member uploads the Official Observer Credential (certificate) to  their profile.
