Soaring Development (Sports)

The Soaring Development Panel coordinates the sporting side for Gliding in Australia. The panel’s role is to

  • Set standards for cross country coaching and coordinate coaching events with the Regions.

  • Train coaches

  • Process FAI Badges (Silver, Gold, Diamond) and Australian and World Records.

  • Coordinate matters with the Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FAI) and the International Gliding Commission (IGC).

  • Coordinate National Competitions, and writes and updates the National Competition Rules and handicaps

  • Establish National Ranking lists and selects pilots to represent Australia at World Competitions

The Manual of Standard Procedures #4 (MOSP4) is the overall document that describes how the panel operates.
