Training / Coaching

Gliding is a dynamic sport enjoyed by participants all over the world. There are many facets, meaning that there are opportunities for you to focus on the parts of the sport you enjoy the most. These might include learning to fly a glider, Cross Country Soaring, Aerobatics, Instructing, Coaching, and Competition Flying.

There are many progression pathways are designed to help you reach those goals, and assist you in staying engaged with the sport, on whatever level or area of interest appeals to you.

Whether you’ve never flown before, or have some other aviation background, or you want to improve your gliding skills there is training available. In addition to flying training, clubs and regions offer other courses relating to the enjoyment of the sport. There is a pathway for all.

  • Flying Training and Coaching – at a Gliding Club or do a full-time course

  • Airworthiness Training from Daily Inspector rating to more advanced maintenance qualifications

  • Club Management for club management, committees, meetings, etc

  • Tow Pilots – how to tow aircraft with powered aircraft

  • Become an Instructor – once you have some experience, learn how to teach others.

  • Become a Coach with cross country experience you can become a coach
