Are you legal to fly?
Have you checked that you are legal to fly?
We’ve noticed some pilots flying solo without an active Gliding Australia membership or valid medical certification. It’s critical to understand that this is against the regulations and could lead to consequences from both Gliding Australia and CASA.
In case of an accident, remember that BBL insurance might not cover you, and your glider insurance could be invalidated, especially if the glider is club-owned.
The onus of ensuring compliance is on each pilot. As the Pilot in Command, you’re responsible for keeping your membership and other credentials current. Please review your information in the “My Profile” section on Just Go. If you encounter any issues, please contact us at returns@glidingaustralia.org for assistance.
Clubs also play a vital role in compliance. Administrators should regularly use the “Full Club Member Report” in the “Club Reports” section of JustGO, to check members’ credentials and membership statuses.
Remember, while your logbook is important, your official records with Gliding Australia, including medical and pilot endorsements, are crucial. These records are regularly audited by CASA and are essential for maintaining our flying privileges.
Once you’re sure your credentials are in order, you can fully enjoy the freedom of flying, worry-free.
