In a decision during the Extraordinary General Meeting last November, Gliding Australia’s membership approved the creation of a new paid position: Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This role will be responsible for leading the executive management team and driving the strategic vision of Gliding Australia. It is an opportunity to shape the future of gliding in Australia.
The CEO will play a pivotal role in overseeing the organisation’s operations, fostering relationships with stakeholders, and promoting gliding at local, national, and international levels. As a passionate and experienced leader, the CEO will be expected to inspire the gliding community and advocate for the sport’s growth and development.

Executive Manager Operations
After a decade of exceptional service, Chris Thorpe, Gliding Australia’s Executive Manager Operations, has announced his retirement. As a result, we are seeking a dynamic and qualified individual to step into this key management role. The Executive Manager Operations will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operational aspects of Gliding Australia, ensuring smooth functioning and effective implementation of policies and procedures.
The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of gliding operations and possess strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills. They will work closely with the CEO, national committees, and other stakeholders to ensure the continued success and growth of gliding sports in Australia.
