The GPC qualification recognises the pilot’s ability to carry out cross country flights in varied conditions, operate independently and safely, and be able to fly at any site in Australia. The GPC allows a pilot to enter gliding competitions.
The purpose of this book is to provide a reference for the kind of knowledge which you will need as you progress through your flying. It is a supplement to your training, from the basic reasons why a glider is able to fly in the first place to the meteorology which enables it to soar. It also covers items, such as air legislation, basic navigation and use of radio. However, the primary training documents that must be used are the Trainer Guides and Pilot Guides.
Once you have attained your A, B and C badges, your training continues with more advanced topics
Learn about preparation for longer flights, navigation, gliding weather, how to fly a cross country, and use of advanced instruments
You can get your club coaches and instructors to take you through the syllabus or find a Flying Faster Course
If your club isn’t a cross country club, try visiting a club that does
