Try Gliding

A great way to experience the thrill of gliding is to take an Air Experience Flight at one of clubs.

Clubs normally provide either an aerotow to around 2000ft or winch launch followed by a flight of about 20-30 minutes.  Costs do vary from club to club.

Air Experience Flights are your best option for taking a trial flight and seeing what it’s all about.

Become A Pilot

Once you have decided that you want to learn to fly, the first step is to join a club.

All clubs follow a strict learning syllabus that will take you right from the earliest stages through to becoming a fully qualified glider pilot. Clubs provide training free of charge with fully qualified instructors and your first target will be to fly solo. Don’t worry – you will only do this when your instructors are certain that you have all the necessary skills to safely take-off, fly and land the glider. After you’ve successfully flown solo, there’s nothing to stop you becoming a fully qualified glider pilot by completing a training syllabus, For further information on becoming a glider pilot, speak to your local club.

Who can become a glider pilot?

Gliding is an all-inclusive and very social sport attracting men and woman of all ages and walks of life. In Australia you can fly solo from the age of 15 and some pilots continue gliding into their eighties. It is never too late to learn to glide and many pilots take up the sport in their 40s, 50s or even 70s.
