Gliding Australia Welcomes New CEO, Mariela Pocklington

Gliding Australia is pleased to welcome Mariela Pocklington as our new Chief Executive Officer.

Her appointment follows an extensive recruitment process that attracted over 350 expressions of interest. From that pool, 14 highly qualified candidates were shortlisted for interviews. Mariela emerged as the standout choice, bringing with her a strong track record in sports administration, governance, and stakeholder engagement.

She has worked across a range of sports with volunteer-based, not-for-profit organisations, leading major programs and navigating complex regulatory environments. This experience positions her well to support Gliding Australia’s strategic goals and day-to-day operations.

Although new to the world of gliding, Mariela is already eager to learn from the community and connect with members and stakeholders around the country. Her calm, approachable leadership style and genuine interest in the sport will help strengthen relationships and guide the organisation through its next chapter.
