The World Gliding Championships (WGC) will be the largest gliding event ever held in Australia, and the largest ever in the Southern Hemisphere.

Taking place from 8 to 22 January 2017, WGC will be a major event for Victoria Benalla and the region as well, attracting competitors, support teams and enthusiasts. Altogether 114 pilots from 29 countries will be competing.

Each pilot has a story to tell about themselves and their fascinating sport, and would make an excellent subject for interviews, photos and comments. There will be two reigning World Gliding Champions, and the best pilots from each country including six members of the Australian team.

Due to their home turf advantage, Australia’s team members are confident of being in the running for podium places. Their champion coach - four times World Gliding Champion Ingo Renner OAM and their ‘secret weapon’ - will also be available at Benalla.

We can send you high res photographs and video. Contact us for any enquiries or requirements you have, or to arrange interviews and other coverage. We look forward to seeing you there!
