SOAR

A Safety Occurrence and Accident Report (SOAR) is used to report operational events, incidents, hazards, accidents, or near misses that occur during gliding activities. SOAR reporting helps Gliding Australia identify safety trends, understand contributing factors, and implement measures to improve safety outcomes across the organisation. Reports should be submitted as soon as practicable following any occurrence that could affect the safety of members, operations, aircraft, or third parties.

Please provide as much detail as possible. Information collected through SOAR reporting supports Gliding Australia’s Safety Management System and promotes a proactive, just, and learning-focused safety culture.

SDR

A Service Defect Report (SDR) is used to report defects, malfunctions, failures, or maintenance-related issues affecting gliders, powered aircraft, trailers, launch equipment, or associated systems. SDRs help Gliding Australia identify emerging trends, monitor the ongoing airworthiness of aircraft and equipment, and share important safety information across the gliding community. Submit an SDR whenever you identify a defect or service issue that could affect the safety, reliability, or continued airworthiness of an aircraft or related equipment.
