Every year the GFA requires clubs and other organisations that need to affiliate with the GFA, to complete a form confirming the affiliation details.
For first time Gliding Club affiliation, there is a one time fee.
Currently there are three types of organisations that need to affiliate with the GFA. These are:
- Operationally active gliding clubs. No fee.
- Approved Maintenance Organisations that operate under the GFA Manual of Standard Procedures. This category has an annual renewal and fee, to be paid directly at MY GFA/SOAR RPTS.
- Organisations that act as the Registered Operator of one or more sailplanes. Usually these will be companies that operate a glider on behalf of an individual or a syndicate, rather than as a gliding club. Once again the reason for requiring affiliation is to ensure that the Registered Operator is bound by the GFA's Manual of Standard Procedures. This category has an annual renewal and fee, at MY GFA/SOAR RPTS.
Clubs who are not affiliated may not operate and their members cannot fly with any club, unless they become a member of an affiliated club.
